Martina is preceded in death, by her husband Louis Joseph Spacek and stepfather Roy E. Patrick Moore. Martina was blessed with eight children including sons Stephen; Joseph and wife Elsa; Patrick and wife Renee; daughters Cherie Harris; Janet and husband David Brown; Barbara and husband Bruce Adams; Michele and husband Greg Willis; Karen and husband Glenn Farley. Fourteen grandchildren including Cherie Harris, Candice Belton, Joey Spacek, Sean Spacek, Lauren Spacek, Crystal Spacek, Zachary Adams, Sam Adams, Matthew Brown, Elizabeth Brown, Christopher Farley, Abby Farley, Caleb Willis, and Joshua Willis; and three great-great grandchildren Taylor Belton, Victoria Willis, and Jeremiah Willis.
A native of Houston and a longtime resident of Sugar Land, Texas, she was a Girl Scout as a teen and then graduated from St. Agnes Academy.
Nursing was Martina’s lifelong passion, and she was truly recognized as a loving and compassionate nurse. She received her bachelor’s degree from Dominican College in Houston and then worked her first job as a maternity nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Martina also worked for Methodist Hospital as cardiology nurse under Dr. Michael DeBakey and excelled in private duty nursing. In addition, she was credentialed in the State of Texas as a Public Health Nurse. Martina received an Outstanding Service award from Houston ISD for her nursing leadership. She was a school nurse at the iconic Lakeview Elementary in Fort Bend ISD in the 1970’s.
Tina cared deeply for her family and friends and did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was widowed in 1983 with 8 children to raise and did a remarkable job. She lovingly pitched in to raise 2 of her grandchildren along with caring for her ailing stepdad for many years. She was a woman of strong faith that prayed every day for her family. “Ms. Tina”, as she was affectionately known, was a mom to everyone.
Her nursing friends were an important part of her life and she maintained a friendship of more than 50 years that included annual summer trips to Jamaica Beach, and shopping at Tuesday Morning, and Thrift Stores.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Dedra Cuevas, Theresa Zheng, and Judy Martin.
Martina will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The Spacek Family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life.
