Dear Meme,

Last time I seen you in HEB I gave you the hugest huge and told you I love you. I didn’t make it to see you before you left from this world but you will never be forgotten.

You made some of the most incredible memories of so many lives. That is truly an honor and I know your legacy of love and foundation will be forever cherished and carried with love and dignity. 

I will miss you greatly and I will miss your burgers too. I haven’t had one in so long. 

To all of the family you are incredible. During this time as you celebrate Meme’s worldly departure, may you all celebrate all the lovely the moments made and continue to hold on to one another even tighter.

I worked with Mary for a couple years I lived the street  behind  her  so l could walk to see  her  I did that often  we  decorated  many eggs  together  I moved  but we  kept  in touch  I'll  miss that  my prayers  are  with  you  all millie

You and your entire family have my deepest sympathy during the loss of your mom. May you cherish the great memories that she gave the entire family and may her soul rest in enteral peace.

This was taken at Mary Ann's house in April 2025. Stella wanted to meet Mary because sometimes I would give Stella some of the duck eggs Mary gave me.

My sincerest condolences to all of Mary Ann’s children, family and friends. I don’t have to tell you how much she loved all of you. May the many fond memories you made with your beloved MeMe comfort you now and always. I, too, miss her tremendously. I miss our almost daily hour-long conversations. My heart is broken. My only comfort is knowing that she is no longer suffering, and that I will see her “Later.” Rest in Peace, my dear friend. M

My sweet mother in law, I am completely heartbroken. You were the glue that kept us all together, our family anchor, and someone that shared the same love language as myself, cooking for those we love. 

Every Thanksgiving you would call me and ask “do I need to make the gravy?” And every time it was the same reply, “you know I can’t make gravy” and you would just do your little giggle every time and I would say, “I already bought the chicken broth for it for you.” How I’m gonna miss that little giggle of yours. Abby asking every time we get together, is Meme making macaroni? Your special strawberry cake you made for Taylor’s birthday. So many special things you did for those you love. Always asking if Sherri was coming for every holiday, you knowing she wasn’t cooking anything and wanted to make sure she had food for whatever holiday we were celebrating. You taking my grandma into your home, taking care of her and loving her because you loved me. Remembering you and my momma laughing like little school girls every time you were together. So many wonderful memories and blessings of love you shared with not only me, but with my family too. 

Thank you for loving me, for always making me feel special. Thank you for shaping and raising Jeff into the wonderful man, husband and father he is. Give my momma a big hug for me, tell her you took such great care of me after she left. I was truly blessed to know and love you.

Mom,
This is the hardest thing I have ever had to write. My days are forever changed, and the hole in my heart makes it hard to breathe. Starting each day with a phone call from you and ending every night by checking on you and hearing about your day will no longer be, and that loss feels unbearable.
Your love was unconditional—steady, comforting, and always there. Thank you for being my mom. Loving you has been one of the greatest gifts of my life, and missing you will be one of the hardest.
I will carry you with me always—in the lessons you taught me, the memories we shared, and the love that will never fade. I hope to live in a way that honors you, to love the way you loved, and to pass on the goodness you poured into me.

If love alone could have kept you here, you would have lived forever.

MeMe wasn’t just my grandmother.  She was my second mom. She raised me, shaped me, protected me, and loved me in a way that never wavered. She was my safe place. My constant. My home.

When I became a mother, she became my anchor. That first year of Jonah’s life, she opened her home and her heart to us without hesitation. I truly believe that if it weren’t for MeMe, I wouldn’t be standing here today. She carried me through my postpartum depression when I felt lost, exhausted, and unsure of myself. On the days I didn’t think I could keep going, she quietly stepped in and held us together, never complaining, never asking for anything in return.

She took care of Jonah every single day of his first year. She loved him fiercely, completely, and without limits, just like she loved me. Watching her with him was like watching love come full circle. Because of her, Jonah will grow up knowing what unconditional love looks like.

I’m going to miss the little things the most. Sitting together watching The Price Is Right, The Young and the Restless, Wheel of Fortune, and every movie on the Lifetime Channel. Those moments may seem small, but they were everything.

MeMe always made sure me and my brothers were taken care of. No matter what we needed, she found a way. She was my go-to person. My literal best friend. My cheerleader when I doubted myself. My voice of reason. My Virgo twin who understood me in ways no one else ever could.

She taught me how to be strong without being hard. How to love without limits. How to show up for the people you love, even when it’s not easy..

MeMe, thank you for loving me the way you did. Thank you for saving me when when I didn’t know how to save myself. Thank you for being my second mom, my best friend, and my forever safe place.

I will miss you every day for the rest of my life, but I will carry you with me in everything I do.
