

Mary Wells Brooks was born November 27, 1949 @ 5:25a in Hearne,Texas to Edward Lee Carter and Mary Lou Wells Jones. She was the oldest of 3 siblings, in Hearne, Texas she attended Blackshear Elementary School until completion of the fifth grade. Later moved to Houston,Texas where she attended Ryan Junior High and Jack Yates High School. She attended Franklin Beauty College and Vocational Technical School.
She worked at TIRR and Texas Medical Center for several years.In 1990 she started working at Family Care Medical Clinic as Dr.Ulysses Watkins office manager for 23 years until she retired August 2013. At a young age she was united with Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Red Hill, Hearne,Texas under the late Rev. S.E.Murphy and after moving to Houston she united with Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. W.H. Banks. When she retired she intermittently visited Hiram Clarke Missionary Baptist Church,Reverend Wyman Webster, Pastor at 12:29 am on Saturday, February 17, 2018, Mary was transferred from life to death after a courageous fight with cancer.
She preceded in her transition her mother,Mary Lou Wells Jones, her father, Edward Lee Carter her granddaughter,Victoria D. Singleton, her grandmother, Mittie Moody Wells and her first cousin, Leonard V.Wells.
Mourning her departure but left with indelible memories that will never fade away are her four children, John W.Wells(Debra), Ursula M.Morgan(Tyrone), Kevin D. Murchison(Carla) and Sherwana D. Brooks; four loving grandchildren, Aquilla L.Murchison (Minnesota), KiAra W.Stevens(Corey), Desiree E.Davis (Minnesota),Derrell Rogers and Cortlandt A.Wells; and two precious great grandchildren, ZiCoreyiah D.Stevens and Carson A. Wells; two devoted brothers, Anthony Jones (Fort Worth) and Cedric D. Jones; one aunt, Leola Cooper,one uncle, Lonnie Wells (Midland, Tx).

Hobbies: shopping, dancing, listening to music and being sarcastic
