

Mary Ann Butz Grant passed away Monday, the 4th of May 2015. She was born in 1929 in Ft. Stockton, Texas to Karl T. Butz and Edna Bennett Butz. After attending Gulf Park Junior College in Gulfport, Mississippi for two years, she transferred to the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated with a Degree in Journalism and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. After college, Mary Ann went to work in New York City for Prudential with a group of girlfriends. When Prudential opened a new office in Houston, she decided to move back to Texas. Shortly after, she met her future husband, Harry Daniel Grant after finding out they were neighbors in the same apartment complex. Imagine that!
Mary Ann and Harry married in 1954 in Ft. Stockton and started their family two years later in Houston. They were established members of St. Michael Catholic Church. Over the years she enjoyed their poker nights, tennis, and many travels but, bridge club was her favorite. She created lifelong friendships from those activities. She was a gifted card player and it was not uncommon for her to have a different bridge game three or four times a week!
Mary Ann is survived by daughter, Gwen Davidson and husband, Tom; son, Harry Daniel Grant, Jr. and wife, Suzanne; daughter, Gale; daughter, Vicky Zachry and husband, Ben; and her grandchildren, Jack Davidson and wife, Ana; Sarah Davidson, Daniel Grant, Jordan Grant, Harrison Grant, Meghan Lowenfield, Nicole Lowenfield, and Cameron Lowenfield.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Monday, the 11th of May, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o’clock.
Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 12th of May, at St. Michael Catholic Church 1701 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Msgr. Frank H. Rossi, is to serve as celebrant.
Immediately following all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Parish Life Center.
The family will gather for a private interment the 12th of May.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Mary Ann’s memory may be directed to St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Rd, Houston, TX 77056.
