Mrs. Mary (Omana) Abraham Thomas lived a blessed life that took her from Chengannur in Kerala, South India to Singapore, Malaysia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Her final journey to join our heavenly Father came on September 1, 2024, at the age of 95.
Over the course of her life, she played many roles: daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, college graduate, high school math teacher, full partner in her husband’s ministry, and friend to all she encountered. She had a lifelong love of learning, becoming skilled in crochet, cross stitch, macrame, painting, jewelry making, and gardening. Most of all she loved to cook; this was her love language. She mastered the cuisines of all the places she had lived and lavished her family and friends with her dishes.
She was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Rev. C. J. Thomas, and is survived by her daughter Mary (Usha) Thomas-Taylor, sons John (Suresh), Abraham, and George (Vinod) Thomas, grandchildren Richard Taylor, Elizabeth Thomas, and Asha Thomas, siblings Kunjumon Kulathum, Leela Mathews, Ramani Thomas, and Geetha George, and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.
A funeral service for Mary will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church, 6221 Main St, Houston, TX 77030.
Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Chapel of Eternal Peace at Forest Park, 2454 S Dairy Ashford, Houston, TX 77077.
