Mattie’s early years were spent in Wallis, TX & when she was 16 years old she moved to Houston, TX. She finished her secular education at Jack Yates High School & went on to Business College thereafter.
In 1975 Mattie was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses & remained faithful throughout the remainder of her days. She enjoyed speaking to all that would listen about the many wonderful promises held out in the Bible. In addition to her strong faith in Jehovah God, Mattie loved to cook & bake. More importantly, she loved to laugh, feed people & make them feel at home. She was very hospitable.
Mattie is preceded in death by her parents Nancy Lewis and Alonzo Hunter. Loving memories of her will be cherished by her three children David Lewis, Roshandra Lewis & Meka Lewis, her sisters Valerie Edwards & Doris Hughes and her brother Reginal Anthony Lewis, 3 nephews, 1 niece, great nieces & nephews & a host of others
