Mattie Mae Scholin

Mattie Mae Scholin (Boots) passed away on January 29, 2019. She was born on December 6, 1924. Born in Dobbin, Texas, Mattie attended Madisonville High School and graduated from the University of Houston. While attending U of H, she met her future husband, air cadet Gilbert Scholin, at a dance at Ellington Field.

Boots and Gil were married on June 6, 1945 and moved to Michigan where Boots taught school for many years before returning to Texas in 1987. Boots and Gil were married for 62 years before Gil died in 2008.

Boots is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Earle and Jimmie Tee Carder, and her sisters, Elizabeth Farmer and June Payne. She is survived by her children, Harold and Margo Scholin and Cheryl and Kelvin Brown, grandchildren Matt and Carder Scholin and Charles Baether, Shannon Smith, Cody Baether, Daniel and Dustin Meyer, and great grandchildren, Olivia Scholin and Kylie and Jackson Smith.

Mattie will be interred in Dobbin, Texas at the Jacob Shannon Evergreen Cemetery on February 9, 2019.
