Maybelline (Mable) Garner Smith

Maybelline (Mable) Garner Smith passed away peacefully on May 22nd, 2013. She was born in Fordyce, Arkansas on July 18, 1918, to parents Effie and John Garner. She is survived by daughters Fran Walker and husband Roger and Susan McMillian and husband Bill. Grandchildren Scott Montgomery and wife, Jennifer; David McMillian and wife Lisa; Jeff Walker and wife Donna; Lori Duvall and husband Damon; and Doug McMillian and wife Jessica. Great grandchildren Beth Depwe and husband Jacob; Brittany Templeton and husband Corey; Justin Walker, Melanie Duvall, Drew McMillian, Jennifer Walker, Sarah McMillian, James Walker, Emma McMillian, and Gage McMillian. And great great grandchildren Katelyn Depwe, Kevin Templeton, Riley Depwe, and Jackson Templeton. And numerous nieces and nephews, other family and friends; particularly her church friends at St. Matthews UMC. She was preceded in death by her husband, A W (Smitty) Smith, son Bill Smith and his wife Suzanne Smith; her parents, and all of her siblings. She lived her life surrounded by family, gathering in masses on all holidays and other events. She always believed that her family was her greatest achievement.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Brookside 13747 Eastex Freeway, with a memorial service and reception to follow at 2 p.m. at St. Matthews UMC, 4300 North Shepherd. Reverends Frank Coats and Herb Stallknecht will lead the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Matthew’s UMC.
