Micaela Prado De Mata was born on November 1, 1934, and throughout her life, she built something extraordinary. She was the proud mother of nine children, a loving grandmother to sixteen grandchildren, and a cherished great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren. Her legacy isn’t just in those numbers—it lives in the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the family she held together with unwavering devotion.
To me, she was more than a grandmother—she was my comfort, my guide, and my constant. She had a special way of making me feel loved, always calling me “Mi Renia,” a nickname that will forever echo in my heart. It was her way of reminding me that I was hers, that I belonged, and that I was deeply loved.
She had a joy for life in the simplest, most beautiful ways. You could find her listening to the music she loved—Vicente Fernández, Paquita del Barrio, and Pedro Infante—songs that filled her home and spirit. She found happiness playing lotería, tending to her garden with care, and nurturing her birds as if they were part of the family. In those quiet, everyday moments, she showed us what it meant to live with love and intention.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. As a devoted Catholic, she prayed every single day—not just for herself, but for all of us. She carried each of us in her heart and in her prayers, asking for protection, guidance, and blessings over her family. That kind of love is powerful, and it is something we will carry with us always.
She was always there—for the big moments and the small ones. She helped raise us, stood beside my mom, and made sure we never felt alone. Whether it was a milestone or just an ordinary day, her presence made everything feel more meaningful.
