Michael was born in Wisconsin to Jeanne & Milton Adams on January 29, 1952. He was raised in both Wisconsin and Indiana, where he attended high school and met his wife-to-be, Michelle. He then graduated from University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in Oceanography. Michael and Michelle were married in 1975. He had a successful career at the Amoco Corporation, starting as a Geophysicist and rising through the ranks until he was President of Amoco Romania. Later he would work as an independent consultant for various energy corporations around the world.
Michael loved to travel. Through his work, he lived abroad in Angola, Cairo, and Bucharest, and he used every chance he had to explore the world, including national and state parks in the US. Following his professional career, Michael became an accomplished painter, specializing in watercolor and winning numerous awards in art shows and galleries around Texas. He was the president of the Houston Art Society for several years.
Michael’s list of accomplishments is impressive, but to his loved ones, he was incredibly intelligent, dedicated to his family, with an amazing (and sometimes mischievous) sense of humor. He poured all of himself into everything he did, and those closest to him are still trying to think of something he wasn’t good at. His sense of adventure & determination extended until his final days, and his spirit inspires those who knew him best.
Michael is preceded in death by his mother & father. He is survived by his wife, Michelle, his son, Jason, and siblings, Douglas, Sandy, Linda, and Mark, as well as their spouses, Candace, Steven, and Denise.
