David and I only heard about Mike’s passing today and were truly saddened to hear of it. We met Mike through a cousin long ago and saw him off and on at Walgreens. He was such a nice man and will be missed. Our deepest condolences to the family. May he rest in the peace of our Lord. It was truly a pleasure to have known him.

He’ll forever be in our hearts and memories.  A strong and kind sole who left us way to soon.  Our prayers go out to you and your family.  May they be comforted by knowing your their guardian angel.  You’re sitting along side our Lord, Jesus Christ without pain or sorrow.  You’ll be missed, RIP.  Tom Ward and Family.

Michael it was a pleasure to be a part of your funeral. It felt that I could put closure in the chapter of life. You will never really leave my heart, because when I see your pictures you will always bring back good thoughts to my mind. I will never forget the good times we had in Drama Class. I was hesitant at first try something new, but it was you and Joe that saw something in me. You then talked me into playing football. Then the memories added up you really knew how to make people laugh ,and cut up ,and really feel relaxed. You leave behind a beautiful family and I feel your family will be watched over by your Heavenly Father. Michael it was great being a part of your life for 40 yrs. Love You till we meet again. Farewell, Mike.  We  miss you already.  I’ll never forget the first time met you in Drama class, I was impressed by your height and your broad shoulders, by your kindness and your authenticity.  You took to the stage with confidence and were able to freely shift into character, all the while taking the audience with you, commanding our full attention and captivating us with your talent.

As soon as you stepped off the stage, your authenticity endeared us nearer to you as you listened in earnest and spoke with sincerity.  When you smiled, your eyes came with it.  Your respect at an individual level was commendable and you had a way of making whoever you were speaking with feel like they were special.

I’ll never forget Mustang Football. We cheerleaders would make a large paper banner for the football players to run through as they charged the field.

Well, one time I grabbed your hand to run with and even though we were second row behind the banner, we took off, tearing through the paper ... the band was playing and I was cheering and all the sudden, your laughter was all I heard - I turned to look at you and you had the biggest grin on your face, your fun-filled  laugh bellowed with joy and we ended up out front - mostly because we were both near the tallest on our teams.

Once again, out front - where you always seemed to be.  Then, as you took to the field, you commanded the game with serious, imposing skill and all that silliness turned to intensity and focus.  You stood out on that Line, Gomez, as you stood out in life, truly one of a kind. 

I am privileged to have known you and will always treasure time spent with you. 

Rest sweetly and sing joyfully in Heaven, Michael, front and center, among the Angels. 

We will think of your bright smile and starry  eyes each time we glance into the sapphire sky.

I have a very distinct memory of Uncle Mike calling me on my birthday when I was like 5 or 6, and he pretended to be the president of the United States to wish me happy birthday. I remember crying like crazy, out of shock / fear / thinking I was in trouble or something. At that age I wasn't able to appreciate it, but since then and at family gatherings growing up, I got to realize what a fun uncle and man he was. Endlessly laughing, and pranking, and joking, it was fun to finally get in on the jokes with him. I'll miss you Uncle Mike, and continued love to Aunt Jane, cousin Amanda and cousin Michael.

I loved Mr. Gomez, so very much. I love his family like my own. I’ve known him since I was a little girl. And then into my teen years, he couldn’t get rid of me. I was always just hanging out at the house with them, taking spontaneous trips to Galveston for ice cream, or tagging along to their family parties. They took me along everywhere with them. 

I could crack jokes at him about me always finding him on his favorite recliner, and he wasn’t shy to crack a joke right back. He was just the coolest, funniest guy. I remember car rides with him singing in these ridiculous voices, us listening to the hilarious voicemails he would leave on the house phone, and him always encouraging Amanda to act a fool with him. And she did it. Because that was her life, living it to the fullest..with her Daddy. 

He was truly the best at all of his titles. Amazing Dad, loving husband, coolest Father in Law, proudest Grandfather, one of the guys with all of our guys. And no matter which role he was playing, you saw him do it with true happiness, with that signature smirk on his face. 

To Mrs. Gomez & Mike, you know the place your family has in my heart and I am so deeply sorry you are having to endure this pain. To My Manda, my bestest friend. I’m here for you and by your side for life. I love you so so much. I know how much your Daddy means to you, which is why I’m feeling this loss from two sides. Mourning the loss of a GREAT man, and hurting for you.

Dear Uncle Mike, You accepted me as your own blood, when my dad adopted me. I was in your wedding when I was a giggly five year old flower girl, and loved twirling around in my dress with the pink sash and big bow. I remember when as newlyweds you and Aunt Jane brought your first puppy, a cocker spaniel named Goliath, over to show us. Tiny little ball of fur he was. EVERYONE loves you! I remember Fathers' Day as a kid in Galveston with our family, swimming, tanning, frisbee, fishing and grilling. I remember your first little white house with Aunt Jane. And then when you moved to the house you were in; the bar, the Christmas karaoke, the barbeques,  the sleepovers.  We'd spend holidays at your house because you always had the bbq pit and smoker going,  and a cold one for the adults. Your parties went out the house, both yards, in the street. You danced and sang like no one was watching, but believe me, we all were. You were the entertainment in our family and crowds were drawn to you. Most importantly I remember, when I suffered a serious medical malpractice injury that left me semi comatose in 2015, you and Aunt Jane were there. I couldn't see you, but I knew from touch (your gold bracelet you always wore) and your cologne, who you were. And that meant everything to me. And it hurts me that I couldn't return the favor. I hope you knows how badly I wish I could've been there. I hope your Heavenly reunion with Grandma and Grandpa, and Uncle Carlos and Aunt Bel is a beautiful one with lots of hugs, kisses, singing and dancing! I love you Uncle Mike! I will do my best to love Aunt Jane, Mikey, Jr., Amanda, Edwin, Nathan, my dad, and your brothers and sisters, the way you loved us all. Love, Your Niece Lauren XOXO P.S.   My brother Michael was a kind and loving person and will be missed dearly.  I have many fond memories of Michael. He was the best Tin-Man ever, the best football player, the best softball player, the best dancer, the best dad, the best granddad, and the best husband.  We shared many laughs together and some sorrows together.  I am going to miss gong to an Astros or Texans game with him or his quick visit after going to Gilberts for a haircut. I will miss his quit witted jokes and pranks. He brought so much joy and happiness to everyone.

Mr. Gomez, words do not suffice to describe the sadness of your early departure. 

You were always sweet, kind, supportive and hilarious. Oh, you were so funny! And I’m going to miss you making us all laugh with your singing, dancing and acting - you making some comment that would make Michael Jr throw his head back in laughter, making Amanda snort and yell “DAD!”, annoying (yet always making her smile!) our Jane Lucy to the point of “Okay, Michael Gomez” and Edwin just watching it all, shaking his head. I’ll never forget your happiness on Mandy’s wedding day and when Nate was born, so sweet; so many memories I’ll keep in my heart. And, honestly, there was nothing cooler than traveling with y’all and stopping by a Walgreens to shop for snacks with your employee discount. 

Thank you for truly treating us like family and making us feel that we were part of the Gomez gang. Please keep an eye on Mandy and Robbie for me from the best seat up there. We’ll take good care of our Jane Lucy, Mike, Manda and Nate. We will miss you always.

Mike was such a wonderful man that we were blessed to have known over the years that we spent at St. Charles & Seton  during your school years.  He was always so kind and polite to our family and even more so after he knew that we lost Rick at such a young age as well. Uncle Mike was a great man that filled the hearts of anyone that knew him with joy, happiness, and love with his unparalleled sense of humor, positivity, and selfless acts of kindness. I am grateful for the amazing memories spent at Uncle Mike and Aunt Jane's house playing SNES, squeezing into Mike Jr's clothes and going to St. Charles Borromeo for mass, or just hanging out. I wish I had been around more, visited more, or called more. This one hurts. My heartfelt condolences.

Mr. Gomez. What a truly, great man taken from his family & loved ones way too soon.

There are too many words to describe him but here are a few that I can think of.
Loving, hilarious, kind and most importantly -- cool. 

Mr. Gomez was one of the coolest people I've ever met in my life. Hearing his stories of "them Austin days," talking about his love (& frustration) of the Texans, hearing him joke with Mike and Amanda & finding some humor in pretty much anything. He really was "one of the boys."

Mr. Gomez was such a loving & compassionate person. So proud of Amanda & Mikes' accomplishments, so loving to Mrs. Jane & an awesome grandpa to Nathan Rye. He was always welcoming to everyone he crossed paths with, warmed up any room he walked into and had a heart of gold.

I'll miss you Mr. Gomez.

Always when he and his beloved wife Jean visited Monterrey..Mexico it was our pleasure to take them to different restaurants to have fun. They will always be a nice couple

Mr Gomez is in some of my favorite memories.  Know that the mark that he left is a great one, an because of this he'll never be gone. My deepest condolences to you during this time please dont hesitate to reach out if you need a shoulder of support.

To Michael Srs family. 
I can't give you one great memory as there are many. He was so sweet, kind and caring. I loved is smile, his humor and loved mostly how he loved all of you and by extension those of us blessed to know him. I know your pain and its unbelievably hard. On the day he passed, there was an amazing rainbow that appeared in front of my house. There has never been a rainbow in front of my house and I've never seen one so bright. My Daddy loved Michael and Janie. So I am thinking my Daddy was welcoming Michael to Heaven and God was showing out that two wonderful men were now there with him. I hate that he had to go so soon. My heart breaks for all of you but again, you all live on with him in your hearts therefore he lives on as well.. You are his Legacy of Love. I love you all, I loved him. May God wrap you all in his arms as you go through this time. I thank God I was allowed to call Michael my friend. He was and will always be a blessing.
