

Michael Charles Winter, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away January 22nd at the age of 73 in Houston, TX. Michael was born on June 24th, 1944 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Michael grew up in a large family with three Brothers and a Sister. Michael is preceded in death by his parents; Marion and Mildred Winter; Brother’s Allen and Jerry Winter; Sister Mary Kathryn Pittman and Granddaughter Olivia Winter Brooks. He is survived by his loving wife Sheila Winter; Children Michelle Winter, Nicholas Winter, Clay Moeller, Kelly Brooks and husband Steve; Six Granddaughters Lane and Aubrey Winter, KC and Macy Moller, Avery and Emma Brooks,; Grandson Ashton Winter; Brother Bill Winter and wife Paula; Sister-in-law Ramah Winter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael served his country in the United States Air Force where he was a Teletype Maintenance Technician stationed in Turkey for most of his Tour. While in Turkey he took College Courses which transferred toward his goal of obtaining an Engineering Degree. Upon receiving his Honorable discharge from the Air Force March 4, 1970, he attended and graduated from the University of Houston May 15, 1971 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering. He enjoyed early success in the Machine Tool industry where he created Gulf States Machine Tools and then Winter Industries. He was a born Salesman, loved to make ‘deals’, even with his Children and Grandchildren. Always promoting the importance of Education. In early 2000 he moved into the Health Care industry where he created Winter Pediatric Therapy and later an enhanced Memory Care Facility; The Cottage of Spring Branch. During all of this he touched so many lives. Michael was a very generous, giving and warm hearted man, always willing to help those who worked hard. He also had a larger than Life personality. Always smiling and encouraging others with his kind words.
Another of Michael’s greatest passion was on the golf course, striving to achieve that elusive ‘hole in one’. Sheila his wife and best friend for 31 years, was always by his side. He loved spending time with her and together travelled the world. Many interesting stories he had to share about their Travels and many Golf Courses played.
Family meant everything to Michael lovingly called “Papo”. He always looked forward to spending Annual Vacations and Holidays with his Family. Nothing provided him more joy. He is truly one of a kind and irreplaceable and will be missed dearly by his loved ones and many, many friends.
