Mildred “Marie” Marks Robertson crossed over from this life to the next on Thursday, the 13th of June 2024, at three o’clock in the afternoon, the hour of her Lord and Savior’s death and the hour at which she devoutly recited the Divine Mercy chaplet.
Marie, a native Houstonian born in 1933, was a proud alumna of St. Agnes Academy and Dominican College, where she earned one of the first formal nursing degrees. She practiced with passion and skill at St. Joseph’s Hospital alongside the Dominican sisters whom she dearly loved. Marie devotedly continued her nursing vocation at home, where she nurtured and cherished her five children: Kathryn Coulter, Christa Robertson Yates, Guy J. Robertson, Jr., Clare Teas, and Rosanne Easton. The beloved matriarch of an ever-growing family, Marie treasured her 13 grandchildren and her great-children numbering 19 to date.
Marie, renowned for her gracious hospitality, opened her loving arms to any and every soul that crossed the threshold of her happy home. She provided spiritual strength and physical sustenance to family and friends alike and never met a stranger. Always able to see the good in everyone she encountered, countless family friends adopted Marie as a second mother, and her home was always filled with good food, laughter, and people of all ages and walks of life. A lifelong singer, she serenaded her children and grandchildren with her beautiful voice. And she never turned away a stray dog that her kids brought home to rescue.
May Marie’s soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 20th of June, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at half past nine o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 21st of June, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston, where the Requiem Mass celebrating Marie’s life is to commence at half past ten o’clock in the morning, with Fr. Wayne W. Wilkerson, officiating.
