

Armandina "Mondie" Navarro, 83, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her friends and family on February 16, 2014. Mondie married the love of her life, Wilfred Navarro Jr. on December 17, 1948 and they shared 65 beautiful years together. She enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life traveling the world with her husband and family. Mondie began her career in 1965, working for the City of Houston as a Parking Meter Checker and retired after 24 years as a City Marshal.
Welcoming her into heaven are her parents, Amado and Josefina DeHoyos, and her twin brothers, Jesse and Rudy DeHoyos. Mondie's spirit is survived by her husband and three children, Levett Camarena, Yvonne Bonner and Wilfred Navarro III, as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mondie was an avid reader with a fondness for non-fiction, history, and biographies of the rich and powerful, as well as the poor and oppressed. She will be remembered by everyone for her contagious laughter, vivacious personality and "gusto de vivir."
Visitation will take place Wednesday, February 19,2014 from 6-8 p.m. with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral mass will be Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, located at 6622 Haskell St. Houston, Texas.
