The sun rose in Houston, Texas on September 17, 1961, bringing with it a bow-legged, chunky and sweet baby boy. John Girard Robertson was the fourth child born to John Allen and Annie Lee Darby Robertson. Early childhood was pretty easy for him being the only in a house full of girls. You could say he was a bit spoiled by all of them. He was their protector. He coveted his role as the only boy, by questioning guys at the gate before they would be allowed in the home to court his sisters. John Girard was educated in Houston Independent and North Forest Independent School Districts. He started at Rosa Lee Easter Elementary School and then to Shadydale Elementary School, Northwood Middle School and Forest Brook High School, where he graduated with the MIGHTY JAGUAR CLASS OF 1980. John also attended Prairie View A&M University and played on the football team. John Girard aka...Big John, J-Rod and Girard by his family and friends was Christened at an early age at Pine Crest Presbyterian Church. Later on in life he was baptized at Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church. John worked for several years at Bison Building Supplies at a Warehouseman. After being laid off he joined a Security firm and worked as an Officer for several years. In 1989 his only child was born, a beautiful daughter named Shemica Steward. John’s only grandchild was born in 2013, Gerard Marques Banks, Jr. John Girard also has a God Daughter, Tyechia and her daughter Tatianna. John Girard’s name appeared on the roll March 20, 2016, suddenly and unexpectedly in the blink of an eye he transitioned beyond the wall to his Heavenly home. Preceding him in death were his Father, John Allen Robertson; his Mother, Annie Lee Robertson and his Baby Sister, Luvenia Lois Robertson. To cherish his memories he leaves, Daughter Shemica Steward; Grandson, Gerard Marques Banks, Jr. (RJ); Sisters, Michelle McGregor, Sunja Walker (Victor) and Regina Robertson; God Sister, Shaundalyn Arcenueaux; God Daughter, Tyechia; Close Cousin, Gregory Hill; Best Friend, Oliver Prime (Primetime) and Joe Sereal. John Girard also leaves aunts, uncles and a host cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and classmates.
