“Paul’s Story” The firstborn child of Mary and Henderson Alexander, Paul Henderson Alexander had reached 70 years at the time of his tragic passing. He resided in the family home in the community of Pleasantville, Houston, Texas, where he was well liked by many. He was well-known for his easy-going personality and pleasant demeanor, often assisting elderly neighbors with errands, and generally helping others in need. Paul was a 1962 graduate of Phillis Wheatley High School and also for a time attended Texas Southern University. He eventually worked for many years in the food service industry, serving as both a waiter and bartender at several key hotels. Being a jazz enthusiast he loved music and collected his favorite artists. He also admired beautiful cars and as a teen collected magazines featuring customized vehicles. But his most endearing qualities were his love of family and his Love of the Lord. A lifelong member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, he often attended there- where he many times would engage the priest in conversations regarding his sermons. And Paul was forever the conversationalist – he talked a lot! And laughingly, on many subjects! Paul’s final rites were held at his childhood church. He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him all of their days. His light continues to shine in his sisters, Anne Deborah Balthazar and Carlotta Alexander, his nieces, Antoinette, Anne-Marie, and Angelique (Joseph), and his pride and joy, grand-nephew Samuel Alexander Obiri. He also leaves his Aunt Grace Lewis and a host of cousins, extended family, neighbors and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Henderson and his infant brother Joseph, who were waiting beside the Father at heaven’s gate - with outstretched arms to welcome Paul home. “We can do no great things - only small things, with great love.” Mother Theresa
