THE SUN DID NOT SET ON THE LIFE OF THORNTON TURNER, JR. on December 18, 2017, but rather it shined and danced across the blue sky. The chapter of his earthly life came to a close and his heavenly life began. From the day of his birth on January 8, 1934, in Alabama, Thornton was destined to touch and forever alter the lives of everyone he came in contact with. Thornton moved to Texas where he later met his wife and raised his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Thornton worked for over 60 years at Eastex Lumber. He was an avid Houston Texans fan. He is preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie and daughter Gladys. Thornton is survived by his children, Thornton, Lavell, Valerie, Alvin, Ellouise, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends that will miss "papa" dearly.
