

Maria Castillo was born to J. Concepción Castillo and Pascuala Rivera in Chicago Illinois. She lived in Katy, TX.
She was survived by her husband Omar Almazan who passed away 13 days after she went to meet with the Lord.
Maria is now survived by her mother Pascuala Rivera and 5 siblings; Macrina, Filiberto, Efren, Enrique, and Luis. Sisters/Brothers in laws, aunts/uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews both from the Castillo and the Almazan family as well as her mother in law Eunice Almazan. She was preceded in death by her loving father J. Concepción Castillo
She was always sharing the messages she heard in each service with anyone who was willing to receive it. She had started her own vegetable garden. She loved plants.
Maria worked for Katy ISD where she started in 1997 as a custodian. She later held the position of Operations Supervisor & Trainer for the last nine years. Maria was a dependable, dedicated and passionate Katy ISD employee for 24 years.
Maria had a kind and warm soul. Maria had a great sense of humor, was a friend to all, and a Sunny smile on a cloudy day!
Omar Almazan 11/28/1980- 08/29/2021
Omar Almazan was born to J. Francisco Almazan and Eunice Almazan in Rosenberg, TX in 1980. He lived in Katy, TX.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Maria Castillo who passed away 13 days before he was called to meet with the Lord. He was also preceded in death by his loving father J. Francisco Almazan
Omar is now survived by his mother Eunice Almazan and siblings Elvira, Estella, Alicia, Saul, Jaime, Enrique, Sonia, Veronica and Yecenia. Sisters/Brothers in law, Uncles/Aunts, Cousins, nieces and nephews from both the Almazan and the Castillo family as well as his mother in law Pascuala Rivera.
Omar loved barbeque-ing . Everyone loved his “Carne Asada”. He was learning how to smoke brisket and ribs. He was a fan of all the Houston teams – Astros, Texans and the Rockets.
Omar worked for Goodman Manufacturing Co. He had previously worked for Goya Foods, Alameda and HEB where he met great people and was able to make new life lasting friendships.
Omar was the “baby” of the Almazan-Nunez family. He was “mamma’s boy”. Although he had a very loud and strong voice, he had a warm and tender heart. He had a sincere smile and was always willing to give a helping hand when needed.
Omar will forever be remembered as a “Teddy Bear” and a fan of “The Fast and the Furious”.
Maria and Omar were devoted members of the Church congregation Iglesia Faro de Luz in Katy, TX.
A visitation with family & friends will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079 with a committal service to follow funeral service.
