Mrs. Ruby Lois Braden

Ruby Lois Braden was born on August 19, 1948 in Navasota, Texas. She was the 4th child of James Randolph and Mae Jimmie Mitchell. Her devoted parents instilled the importance of family, hard work, kindness and the importance of having a strong and meaningful relationship with the Lord. These values were strengthened as Ruby matured into a young woman, and even more so as evident by all the lives she has touched that would later define her extraordinary life. Ruby graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1966, where she played the clarinet and cornet in the concert and marching band and she sang soprano in the school choir. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Houston, Texas where she attended college at Texas Southern University. In 1968, she married Predo Braden, Sr., the father of her four beautiful biological children. Ruby later adopted 2 siblings, giving her a total of six children. Ruby worked as a keypunch operator for various companies, including an oil and gas company, and Weingarten's. After her 4th child was born, she was a stay at home mom for a brief period. Ruby went to work for the US Postal Service as a Clerk and was also a "Safety Captain." She retired on February 1, 2004 after working there for 23 years and 10 months. She then worked as an Expeditor and eventually was promoted to a Customer Service Representative for the Harris County Toll Road Authority where she was currently employed. Ruby was a woman of faith with a loving and giving heart. She was absolutely beautiful inside and out. She started her Christian Journey at a very early age, while in Navasota, TX, she was a very active member of Friendship Baptist church. When she moved to Houston, TX and lived in the area know as the heights, she joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. After she and her husband bought their first home together on the northeast side of Houston, she joined Starlight Missionary Baptist Church. In September 1999, she joined East Park Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend M.L. Holiday, where she has been an active and faithful member. She was the Assistant Treasurer on the Pastor's Aid Committee and member of the Women's I Sunday School class. In addition to these roles, whatever was asked of her by the Pastor, church members, family, friends and neighbors, she said yes with a smile. Ruby was an active member of the Rosewood Civic club, a seamstress, floral designer, and gardener. She enjoyed being a wife and mother, hosting family gatherings, traveling and cooking. She had a very positive, loving and giving spirit; she will truly be missed by all! Ruby was preceded in death by James Randolph and Mae Jimmie Mitchell (parents); Predo Braden, Sr. (husband); Freddie Lee Hubbard, Sr. (oldest brother); Lester Dean Mitchell (youngest brother); She leaves to cherish the memories of her life her devoted children: Chandra Braden Hummons, Crystal Lynn Braden, Predo Braden, Jr., Raful Randolph Braden, Dominique Braden and Jesse Braden. Son in law Kevin Hummons. Her brother: Jerry Randolph Mitchell. Her sisters: Jane Ella Follins, Penola Llyod, Loretta Mitchell, Louise Jones (Rev Keith Jones), and Lisa Mitchell. Grandsons: Cameron Mayfield Driver (Rhema Driver), Branndon Parker, Kevin Hummons II, Bryant Hummons, and Paul Parker, Jr. Great grandsons: Landon Driver and Jayce Driver and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
