Myrtha Troche

After graduating from high school in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, she moved to New York where she met her future husband, Alfonso Troche. They would go on to be married for 33 years and have three children. During her husband’s career in the U.S. Army, the couple traveled the world together. Myrtha held various positions during her career, such as being a business owner in Missouri and Florida, a child care service provider in both Texas and California, and a real estate agent in California. Her most important job, however, was being a mother to her three beautiful girls.

After becoming a widow, Myrtha moved to Texas, and later Florida, to help raise her grandchildren. Later, she returned to Puerto Rico where she was involved with her graduating class, the Class of 1954. She served as the Activities Committee Director from 2010-2013. Myrtha enjoyed planning the events for her classmates and was always the life of the party. Although she loved planning events, her true love was dancing. One could always see the joy in her eyes when she was on the dance floor. Aside from dancing, Myrtha loved to travel. This love of travel, which started while traveling with her husband with the Army, continued on later in life. Each year she would take a cruise or a trip with her friends to a fun and exciting destination, such as Spain, Argentina, or Ecuador.

Myrtha was preceded in death by her mother and father, various siblings and her husband, Lt. Col. Alfonso Troche. She is survived by her siblings, Oscar, Samuel and Lucy Ortiz and numerous nieces and nephews. Myrtha Troche will live on through her three daughters, Marta Cazares and her husband, Rick, Peggy Hay and her fiancée, Rob Maddox, and Denise McKee and her husband, Jason. She will also continue on through her grandchildren, Nicole Cazares, Jackson, Jessica, and Jordan McKee.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her, for no one can forget her beautiful smile and her beautiful heart.
