

Naomi Tyler was born in Oak Park, MI on April 15, 1979 to Frank and Anniedoll Grant, who have preceded her in death. She was one of ten children; two older sisters: Sarah and Francesse; three older brothers: Frank, Isaac, and Daniel; two younger sisters: Rebecca and Priscilla; two younger brothers: Matthew and Andrew; one step brother, Mark Anthony Taylor, who preceded her in death. As a child, Naomi enjoyed playing basketball, volleyball, softball and roller skating. During elementary school she was a member of the safety patrol. Naomi was an honor roll student. She also participated in many spelling bees and won several of them. Double-dutch, hop scotch and bike riding were a few of her favorite activities to do during the summer time. Naomi accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in her teen age years. Naomi attended both public and private schools. She graduated from Detroit Northern High School in 1997. While attending Northern she was selected for a student exchange program, which allowed her to travel to South Africa. She stayed in Ghana for one month. Prior to graduating from High School she completed the cosmetology program at Breithaupt Career and Technical Center. She later passed the state board exam and became a licensed cosmetologist. Naomi continued her education at Western Michigan University, where she obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in accounting in 2001. She was determined to become a Certified Public Accountant and completed the requirements in 2009.
Naomi began her career as an accountant at Deloitte & Touche Accounting Firm in downtown Detroit. Although she loved her hometown Detroit, Michigan, Naomi always dreamed of living and working in New York, so she transferred to Deloitte’s Philadelphia office. In an effort to pursue her dream and expand her rising career, Naomi resigned from Deloitte and moved to New Jersey. She accepted a position at New York Sports Club and commuted to New York daily. Naomi moved on from the sports club and accepted a position as an Auditor with Wachovia Bank. During her time at Wachovia she traveled to Germany, London, Japan, Mulan, and Great Britain. To escape the cold weather and explore new endeavors Naomi relocated to Houston, Texas in 2010. Her ambitions lead her to General Electric (GE), where she worked as a Financial Analyst. Naomi enjoyed the challenge at GE and remained with the company.Naomi volunteered on Saturday mornings at a local shelter, serving hot meals to the homeless. She was a generous giver and gave freely to anyone in need. Naomi met Nathaniel Tyler, the love of her life, in 2011. After 11 months of dating, he proposed to her and they married September 1, 2012. The newlywed couple honeymooned in Hawaii; they were blessed to celebrate two wedding anniversaries together. They shared a quiet life together in Houston, Texas. Nate was a loving husband, a true gift from God to Naomi. Nathaniel and Naomi attended Grace Church, where Naomi faithfully sang in the choir. Naomi passed during her most recent admission at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. With the comfort and warm embrace of her dedicated husband Nate, Naomi fought a fearless battle against cancer.
Naomi Tyler is survived by her devoted husband, Nathaniel Tyler; nine siblings: Sarah of Lawrenceville, GA, Frank II (Akechia) of Roshalt, SD, Francesse (Christopher) of Farmington, MI, Isaac of Redford, MI, Daniel of Southfield, MI, Rebecca (Quinn) of Southfield, MI, Matthew (Shavonne) of Detroit, MI, Priscilla (Wayne Isaiah) of Cordon, TN, Andrew of Detroit, MI; step-mother, Deborah of Sterling Heights, MI; 23 nieces and nephews; two god daughters and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
