

Nettie Burks was born on November 13, 1945 in Coushatta, Louisiana to the late Vollie and Lillie Mae Jones. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Evergreen Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor V. Clark. She attended Allen High School in Allen, Louisiana where she received her High School Diploma. She later came to Houston and married and out of that union was born a beautiful bouncing baby and they named Jacqueline A. Burks. She was a member of Greater Mt. Nebo under the leadership of Reverend J. Allen/Reverend G. Burks and later was a faithful member Greater New Sanctuary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend L. A. Lewis and Reverend Raymond Farley, Sr.; where she remained a faithful soldier. Representing the Lord as a B.T.U. Director, Sunday School Teacher, Usher and a choir member and other functions wherever she was needed. She was the Dessert Queen of all the family functions. She is preceded in death by both parents Vollie and Lillie Jones; her brothers O. C. Jones, Hubert Jones and sister Essie Davison. Nettie is survived by her only child, Jacqueline A. Burks; two granddaughters, Aquilla and Aquita Burks; three great grandchildren, Querrell Tre'on and Quentrell Duwan and Trinity Xianse. She is also survived by her brothers O. B. Jones, Elbert Jones, James Jones, Fletcher (Mary) Jones; two loving sisters, Gracie (Lumis) Lewis and Lillie Burley who took care of her until her death and a host of other family and friends.
