

Madeleine No Ho Nickerson of Bonita, California passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on January 17, 1935, in Hue, Vietnam, where she grew up. She is the youngest daughter of eight children. She later moved to Saigon, Vietnam after finishing her education.
She went to an all-girls Catholic French boarding school in Vietnam and studied Philosophy until she graduated.
She worked as a banker for Chase Vietnam until the fall of Saigon in 1975. After immigrating to the United States in 1975, she settled in Houston, Texas with her three children (Mary, Joseph, and Emmanuelle).
She was actively involved in St. Christopher’s Catholic Church with administering the Holy Eucharist at weekly masses. She was a devout Catholic, often going to daily mass prior to going to work. She prayed the rosary daily and had strong devotion to the Virgin Mary. She worked at Texas Commerce Bank, which later was renamed Chase Texas Bank, for over 25 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jacque Francois Xavier Ho Van Khai (father) and Agnes Anne Tran Thi Duyen (mother), her husband Elvin V. Nickerson, and all of her siblings: Paul Antoine de Padone Ho Van Nhuan, Alexis Joseph Ho, Gregoire Jean Baptiste Ho, Madeleine Maria Ho Thi Hoa, Jean Baptiste Ho Van Sau, Francois Xavier Ho Van Quang, and Paul Ho Van Nhan.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ho Christofferson (eldest daughter), her spouse, Scott, their three children, Andrew (eldest grandson), Nicolas (2nd grandson), and Marie (youngest granddaughter); Joseph Tranvan (eldest and only son), his spouse, Jillian, their son, Alexander (youngest grandson); Emmanuelle Bullington (youngest daughter), her spouse, Michael, his son, Michael Anthony, and their twin boys, Evan and Armand (3rd and 4th grandsons); stepdaughters, Kim Lan Nickerson, her spouse, Caprice, and stepsons, Connor and Caiden; Donna Nickerson (stepdaughter) and her daughter, Kim Sippl, her spouse, Sam and daughters; and her nephews and nieces from her older brother, Jean Baptiste Ho Van Sau.
She had a love for traveling and learning different languages. She enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She loved her family very much and was active up to recent years until she succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease.
The family would like to thank all the staff and caregivers at Plaza Village Senior Living and Memory Care in National City, CA and the Advantage Hospice staff and nurses for the care and compassion they showed our beloved mother in her final days.
Family and friends are invited to visit with the family at 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM (Rosary at 5:00 PM) on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Funeraria del Angel Crespo at 4136 Broadway St., Houston, TX 77087. All are also invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church at 8150 Park Place Blvd., Houston, TX 77017, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 10:30 AM.
Interment to follow the Memorial Mass on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veteran Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038).
