

Bert was born in Cabanatuan City in the Philippines on June 6, 1948. He graduated from Far Eastern University where earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology. He migrated to the United States of America in September 1972. He initially stayed with family in Ohio, but later moved to New York for work and eventually to Houston, Texas where he worked at several hospitals, including Rosewood Medical Center, West Houston, Hospital, TIRR, Bellaire Medical Center, and St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital.
Most recently, Bert joined the Pathology Department of Texas Children’s Hospital as a Medical Technologist in 2005. He was a “founding” medical technologist in the diagnostic laboratory at the Pavilion for Women since 2012. Bert was dependable, hard-working and good-spirited. He enjoyed dancing, watching sports on TV, playing basketball and spending time with his friends and family. He was also actively involved in volunteering for many years and was a dedicated member of the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists - USA Inc.
Bert is survived by his two children, Michael Montes and his wife Jessica, and Michelle Luna and her husband, Felix; his 3 granddaughters, Danielle, Alexis and Molly; his brother, Reynaldo Montes and his wife, Susan; and his sister, Paulina Laugo; his nephews and niece, Michael, Jun-Jay and Pauline Jaye; and the rest of his relatives and friends.
Bert is preceded in death by his parents, Dominador and Natividad Montes.
Deacon Eduardo Dolpher will be officiating the service.
