It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Octaviano “Tobie” Escalante, a man of boundless energy and love for God. Tobie was born on March 22, 1943, in Veracruz, Mexico and peacefully transitioned from this life on May 11, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Through his 83 years, he touched countless lives with wisdom, humor and unwavering spirit of perseverance.
Driven by his faith in God and devotion to his family, Tobie walked the narrow and righteous path in life. Steadfast and dependable, he remained faithfully by the side of those he loved and lived with honesty, discipline and integrity. He was a hard worker, a law-abiding citizen, and above all, a man of his word.
Tobie carried a deep love for the open road, often riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle across the country he cherished. Though he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. With careful hands and a patient heart, he crafted small animals by hand as lasting keepsakes for the people he loved. Quiet, but meaningful expressions of his care, time and devotion.
His love for his family was unwavering, and his faith in God remained constant throughout every season of his life. We rejoice in knowing that his life meant so much to so many, and that his legacy will continue to live on for as long as those who knew and loved him draw breath. We are forever grateful for the time we were blessed to share with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aurelio and Paola Escalante. His brothers Antonio, Alfonso and Aurelio Escalante.
He is survived by his wife Antonia and his sister Francisca Barrera. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of his children: daughters Elizabeth Escalante, Diana Padron and Claudia Mendoza, along with their husbands; and his beloved grandchildren Caleb, Israel, Benjamin, David, Aaron, Noah, Joseph and Joshua.
Rest in the arms of the Father, Tobie. Your love and compassion will live in our hearts forever.
