Odessa D. Steptoe

Miss. Odessa Delores Denson-Steptoe was born on October 7, 1936 in Coldspring, Texas to the late Alfonso Denson Sr. and Zeola Daniels Johnson.  She confessed Christ at an early age and  was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church until her health failed. Miss Odessa was a member of Bethany Baptist Church Seniors Ministry in which she loved. She looked forward to going on every outing.  Miss Odessa was a strong woman who cared dearly for family and had a special love for children and would babysit everybody's children. She was a homemaker and made sure that her kids and grandchildren were well taken care of.  Odessa was also an excellent cook who loved to sing to anyone that would listen. Odessa is preceded in death by her husband R.D. Steptoe Sr.; Father Alfonso Denson Sr., Mother Zeola Daniels Johnson, Daughter Sharon Denson-Andris; Granddaughter Shantocqua Major and siblings Alfonzo Denson, Nancy Johnson, Kathleen Johnson, Dorothy Bradley, MacArthur Johnson, Willie Johnson and Ray Johnson. She leaves to cherish her precious memories children Jeanette Childress(Lionel) of Marshall, TX; Ricky Denson(Betty) of HoustonTX; Ronnie Denson(Annette) of Houston,TX; Cheryl Florence(Gerald) of Houston, TX; Elisa Jones(Jonathan) of Spring,TX;  John Steptoe(Brecklyn) of Houston,TX; Lakeitha Miller(Tim) of Spring,TX; R.D. Steptoe Jr.(Cherry Mae) of Houston, TX and Latoshia Stewart(Kevin) of Houston; Sister Ella Wyatt(CD) of Coldspring,TX; Brothers Jethan Denson(Rosie Lee) of Houston,TX; and Daniel Johnson;   41 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
