Oren Ray & Patricia Ann Norwood

Oren Ray Norwood Sr. Age 86 of New Caney, Texas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. He was born on January 27, 1937, to parents, Oren Gerodge Norwood, and Ruth Mildred Nissen. Patricia Ann Norwood, age 76, of New Caney, Texas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday September 27, 2023. She was born on January 29, 1947, to parents Raymond Jack Turner and Wilma Mevelene Vickers.

Oren (Ray) lived in New Caney, Texas. He served in the United States Army. He retired from the Sheetmetal Workers Local Union 54. Some of his many passions included spending time with family, Fishing, Car Racing, and watching and rooting for the Astros, Oilers, and Texans. Ray was also a long-time youth sports coach.

Oren (Ray) is preceded in death by his father Oren Gerodge Norwood, mother, Ruth Mildred Nissen, brother Donald Wayne Norwood, brother William David Norwood, daughter Susan Elaine Fletcher, Granddaughter Rachel Elizabeth Cheatham, Great Granddaughters Alexis La’Rae Arnold and Alexis Genesis Cheatham.

He was survived by Patricia Ann Norwood, his long-time loving wife of 41 years who followed in passing on the same day.

He is survived by daughter, Donna Ruth Norwood of New Caney, Texas, son David Lee Smith and wife Faith of San Antonio, Texas, daughter Elizabeth Mozelle Norwood of Tomball, Texas, daughter Dana Gayle Nunley and husband Robert of Willis, Texas, son Oren Ray Norwood Jr. and wife Hilda of Coldspring, Texas, son Wayne (Pooter) Smith of New Caney, Texas, son Johnny Ray Norwood and wife Claudette of Livingston, Texas, brother Robert Allen Norwood and wife Brenda of New Caney, Texas, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Patricia (Pat) lived in New Caney, Texas. She retired from GreenLeaf Wholesale. Some of her many passions included spending time with family, doing arts and crafts, Car Racing, Driving big rigs.

Patricia is preceded in death by her Loving Husband of 41 years Oren Ray Norwood Sr. who passed the same day, Father Ramond Jack Turner, mother, Wilma Mevelene Vickers, Granddaughter Rachel Elizabeth Cheatham, Great Granddaughters Alexis La’Rae Arnold, and Alexis Genesis Cheatham.

She is survived by numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A visitation for Oren (Ray) and Patricia (Pat) will be held Monday, October 2, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 10:00 AM, in the Grand Chapel at Brookside followed by a burial at Brookside Memorial Park.

Following the service, we will be holding a fellowship at Grangerland Community Center, 15636 FM 3083, Grangerland, TX 77302.

Serving as pallbearers are David Smith Jr., Oren (Orie) Norwood III, Justin Norwood, Rocky Norwood, Wayne (Pooter) Smith, and Jiovanni Norwood.
