Pat J. Farley, 81, of Houston passed away September 17, 2015. Pat was born April 25, 1934 in Sweetwater, TX and moved to California at the age of 8. He grew up in the deserts of southeastern California in the towns of Midland, Plaster City and El Centro where his father worked for US Gypsum. Pat returned to Texas to attend Texas A&M University and the University of Houston and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering. After graduation he returned to California to work for Douglas Aircraft and then back to Houston where he worked for US Gypsum, Cameron Iron Works, Wells Fargo and the City of Houston.
Pat was active in the church throughout his life and was a member of Advent Presbyterian Church for 40+ years, where he served as an elder, and then Northwoods Presbyterian Church. Pat was a loving and caring father and loved to be involved in his children’s lives as a Boy Scout leader and band dad. This continued with his two grandchildren whom he loved to spend time with at cub scouts, sports, and just sitting and sharing their silliness. Pat happily opened his home when his wife came home with a stray pet or two, or a family member or friend who needed a place to stay, whether it was for 2 weeks or 2 years. Pat was a diehard Aggie, rarely missed watching Texas A&M football and was a season ticket holder for over 20 years. He always brought you happiness with his twinkling blue eyes, infectious smile and laugh. He loved camping and the outdoors and never met a dog or cat he didn’t want to pet.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol; his son, Damon (wife Amy); and grandchildren Aiden and Brynne. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, brother Cloy Donald Farley Jr. and his son Donald Gene Farley.
