Patricia Ann Coyle Hagans was born in New York at Mitchel Air Force Base on the 10th of November 1949, to Gib and Melody Coyle. On Thursday the 2nd of April 2026, as the sun set over Houston, she passed peacefully surrounded by family. As a child, Patty and her family lived all around the world on Air Force bases, until settling in Austin, Texas, where she attended high school and later college at The University of Texas. At UT, Patty met Fred and they married in 1971, while Patty was still in undergrad and Fred was in law school. After Patty graduated Phi Beta Kappa, she and Fred moved to Houston, where Patty began teaching at St. Michael Catholic School, Fred began his law career, and the couple welcomed their two very loved children.
Patty loved teaching and enjoyed volunteering at the Blue Bird Shop. She made a wonderful group of friends, known affectionately as “The Girls” (you know who you are). Any day with a margarita or glass of chardonnay was a good day for Patty.
Patty is survived by her husband of 55 years, Fred, her son William (Jance) and grandson Liam, her daughter Lindsay, her brother Mike (Laura) and her sister Melanie (Bill), her niece Colleen (Alec) and nephew Sean (Jessica), and her loving yellow lab, Lola. Patty is preceded in death by her parents.
In her last days, AnnMarie, Shaleen, and Angie took wonderful care of Patty, for which her family is very grateful. Patty took great comfort in her friendship with Alba Martinez and her family, a part of the family for 45 years.
Patty was a devoted mother and wife and friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
