Patricia Ann Douglas Hargrave, age 88, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021, at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital in Houston, Texas. Pat was born on May 29, 1932 in Groves, Texas, to Joseph and Daisy (Courts) Douglas. She was a graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School. After graduating high school, she went to work at the YMCA in Beaumont where she met the love of her life, Ovelton ‘Bill’ Hargrave. They were married on March 29, 1953 in Beaumont. Pat and Bill started their life together in Beaumont and then were fortunate to experience living in some beautiful states during Bill’s time in the military; most notably South Carolina and southern California.
When Bill retired from the military, they moved back home to Texas; first to Beaumont then to Houston in 1967. Pat started back to work in 1971 at a local industrial manufacturing company, Dittco which ultimately became Amsco Products. She worked there until her retirement in 2001 and very much enjoyed her time with co-workers and friends.
After retirement, Pat enjoyed traveling with her husband and family; volunteering at her beloved St. Jerome Catholic Church; gardening and outdoor activities including fishing and going to the beach in Galveston.
The most important thing in her life was her family. Pat was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother and aunt; and friend to many. She will be deeply missed and forever loved in our hearts. She is predeceased by her children Gary Keith and Deborah Diane; parents Joe and Daisy Douglas; brother Jerry Douglas and grandson Keith Labhart. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Bill Hargrave; daughter Kim Pere and husband Allen Pere. She also leaves behind a sister, Gladys Jones; niece Stephanie Jones and children Alexandra and Natasha; nephew Terry Douglas, wife Jennifer and children Zach, Ethan and Tripp; plus numerous nieces and nephews from family in Louisiana.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079 starting at 10:00am for the visitation and rosary; followed by the funeral service at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow the service.
