Patricia Herbert Cook Howard

Patricia Herbert Cook Howard passed away on Thursday, the 27th of May 2016. She was born on the 21st of September 1929, in Patterson, Louisiana, to Elizabeth O’Niell and William Field Herbert. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Henry Herbert. Pat married Joe Q. Cook in 1968 and George A. Howard in in 1993; both preceded her in death.

Pat graduated from the University of Texas with BA in 1950 and earned a Law Degree from the University of Houston. She traveled extensively around the world and walked on all seven continents including Antarctica.

She was active for many years in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mayflower Descendants, Society of New England Women, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Village Republican Women’s Club, Briargrove Park Women’s Club and other organizations in Houston.

She is survived by her brother, William F. Herbert, Jr. (Charlene); nieces, Dianne H. Bullard (James), Elizabeth H. Ahearn (John), and Alison H. Hall (Brad); nephews, William F Herbert, III (Suzanne), Charles S. Herbert and Bram Conley, and John C. Herbert (Hisayo); and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Pat is also survived by her step-children, Christine Howard Beutlich (Russell), Susan Howard Rutherford (Michael), John Steven Howard (Penny), and James Duncan Howard (Renee). Pat is also survived by her friend and companion Theresa Rashada. Patricia was also very fond of her step-grand-children.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Monday, the 30th of May, at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

A memorial service is to be conducted at half-past ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 4th of June, at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 12535 Perthshire Road in Houston.

At a later date, the family will gather for a private interment in Franklin, Louisiana.
