She loved reconnecting with her childhood friends from Oklahoma, playing bridge, going to lunch with her friends from college, and spending time with her children and grandchildren at her homes in River Oaks and Hunt, Texas. She was a knowledgeable and avid sports enthusiast who loved Texas Longhorn Football in Austin, where she had season tickets for over forty years. Besides college football, Patsy also loved NBA basketball and NFL football. She could rattle off statistics as well as any sports announcer.
She was the beloved wife of the late Jack Robson "Buzzy" Sowell, and cherished mother to her son, Michael Stephen Sowell and his fiancé Jeanette Powell, and daughter, Laura Kay Sowell. Patsy adored her grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Brown Wood and husband Daniel, and Kendra Christine Sowell. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Metta Owens Stone and Lester Marvin Stone of Oklahoma City; and aunt, Anna May Rector of Houston.
The Sowell family would like to express their gratitude to long time housekeeper and friend, Graciela "Chella" Melchor, who has been a part of their family for over thirty years.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Monday, the 2nd of February, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
