LRB , Nick, and I sure miss our almost daily locker room lunch’s. He was fun and interesting. It has not been the same since he left us   Our thoughts are with you, Leila  and your family. With great sympathy. JHY 

I didn't get to know him but for a few years.  He was tough as nails so I know he put up a hell of a fight and I can only think he went on his own terms.  He was direct in his approach to people and situations.  "Beating around the bush" was a waste of time.  Even in his strict nature,  family he held above all else.  He loved them all in his own way and the only person he "feared" was if he made his wife mad.  Lol.  He was highly respected in many avenues of his life that he was part of and he'll be long remembered. He was the closest person I think could walk this Earth and I felt like he was John Wayne.  I'll take at least 2 opinions and advice he gave to to my grave.  

So very sorry to hear this news...

I have known Pat for over 40 years. He has always been kind with a smile on his face and a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all of his ROCC friends . My heartfelt prayers go out to the Gilbert family to find comfort in God's promises, He will be missed.

Jack and Family - I want to let you know how sorry I am about the passing of your Father.   I have great memories of "Coach" Gilbert, during our days in little league football and also in the outdoors.  Coach was an intimidating guy but after you got through the tough exterior you figured out how caring and generous of a man he was.     He definitely played a role in helping me and many other young men to grow and mature.   I will miss the twinkle in his eye!   

Jack, my thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the Gilbert Family.   May God bless you all!

I’ll never forget when Patti and I got into ROCC and Leila and Pat reaching out to play couples golf.   We were so intimidated.  Also,  he was our plumbing contractor dating back when my father was building apartments.  He continued to be our contractor in my generation.   We would always joke that if there was a problem I knew his home phone number.

He was a caring, generous and good natured man.  We had fun exchanging barbs in the locker room.  I will miss his smile and endearing attitude.   Mike Morgan

I met Pat around 2000 at Fairbanks Ranch in Rancho Santa Fe.  I was working that summer as a bag/range attendant and noticed his ROCC bag tag as I put he and Leila's clubs on a cart.  He knew my dad and he, Leila and I connected over Houston and ROCC.  We interacted fondly over the years in the locker room.  It was refreshing to see he and Leila playing together as a couple as well,  a regular occurrence.  He always had a witty joke, which I will miss hearing.  As they say, he had good BS.  I.   My thoughts and prayers are with Leila and the family.

I met Pat around 2000 at Fairbanks Ranch CC in Rancho Santa Fe.   I was working that summer as a range/bag attendant.  He, Leila and I connected over Houston and ROCC, as I noticed his bag tag.  He knew my dad from ROCC and we saw each other multiple times that month I was in San Diego.  Over the years, we became friends and of course, interacted fondly in the Locker Room at the Club.  He always had a witty joke and I'll miss seeing him.  It was refreshing to see he and Leila playing together as a couple over the years, as well.   The Bell's thoughts and prayers are with Leila and the family.

Pat was my lunchtime buddy.  We frequently had lunch together in the locker room at River Oaks Country Club. Pat usually sat in the same chair at the same table and I had a pillow made for him that resembled a golf ball that was monogramed with "Pat's Chair".  Pat had a great sense of humor and constantly kidded with the waitstaff but always with a tongue in cheek type of kidding.  We shared many stories and almost always with a good laugh.  I will miss him tremendously and lunch will never be the same without him! God rest his soul!      Jim Easterling

I was deeply saddened to learn that I will no longer experience Pat's wry humor and that twinkle in his eyes whenever I encountered him, which was mostly in the Men's Locker Room at ROCC. When he was there, a smile always appeared on my face and my sprits rose when I entered. He was a remarkable gentleman, always respectful, insightful, and wickedly funny with me and everyone around him. We will all miss him dearly. May the Lord watch over him, Leila and their entire family.

He was a gentle giant. I saw through that tough exterior. My thoughts and prayers are with you Leila.
