

Patsy Sparks Dansby, 67, was born on the 20th of February 1943 in Center, Texas and passed away unexpectedly on the 9th of August 2010, in Houston, Texas, while amongst her friends and family. Patsy was the older of two girls born to Vernon Rayford Sparks and Alice Madion Powers.
Patsy lived a full and complete life that revolved around her extensive family, her faith, her many friends and her varied passions. She was truly a beautiful person, inside and out with her kindness, hospitality, witty sense of humor, triumphant spirit and mischievousness. Patsy was a member of First United Methodist Church of Houston at its Westchase Campus. Previously, Patsy and Ron were members of First United Methodist Church in Alvin, Texas for 23 years. Patsy taught Sunday school, VBS and participated in mission work throughout the Houston area. She was actively involved in numerous clubs and activities throughout the community including the American Cancer Society and the Alvin Mothers Club where she served as president and numerous other offices. She often donated her time and resources to help others. Patsy had a generous heart for giving to others as evidenced by the many lives she touched. Patsy was always supportive of her husband in his business ventures, including his current endeavor at Rio Marine, Inc. She was loved by all their employees.
Patsy graduated from Massey Business College. She also attended Alvin Community College, earning a 4.0 average in English. Patsy was employed as one of the original employees of Monsanto Company’s Chocolate Bayou Chemical Plant, Alvin, Texas in 1961. She transferred to the Distribution Department in 1962 and later moved to Monsanto’s Houston Office in the Personnel and soon after the Land Records Department. She married Ronald Craig Dansby on the 18th of January 1964 in Texas City, Texas. Ronald and Patsy moved to Houston shortly after their marriage. Patsy left Monsanto’s employment upon the birth of their son, Ronald Craig Dansby, Jr. in 1967. Their daughter, Ronda Kaye Dansby Howard, was born in 1970. She and her family were longtime residents of Alvin, Texas where their children graduated from high school.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Vernon Rayford Sparks and Alice Madion Sparks; and by her sister, the late Kay Sparks. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Ronald C. Dansby, Sr.; son, Ronald C. Dansby Jr.; daughter, Ronda Kaye Howard and son-in-law, Clay Howard. She also survived by her grandchildren: Clayton Carlyle Howard, III, Kyle Daniel Howard, and Jonathan Aaron Howard; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Special friends include Jackie Bean, Marcie Baker, Carole Chambers, Geraldine Hudson, and Sandra Ivey; members of the Alvin Mother’s Club, the Steel Magnolias, and the Oaks of Parkway Bunco Club.
Honored to serve as casket bearers during the services are Raymon Bean, Gene Chambers, Gary Dickey, Don Hudson, Bill Ivey, and Lloyd Sparks. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Bill Ainsworth, John Baker, Leo Braun, Charlie Cornett, Jon Dansby, Mike Dansby, Tim Dansby, Ronnie Giadrosich, Eddie Roemer and Billy Simmons.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 13th of August, in the Parlor of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 14th of August, in the Worship Center of the First Methodist Church - Westchase Campus, 10570 Westpark Drive in Houston, where Rev. Charles Thompson, Executive Pastor, and Rev. Leo Tyler, Pastor of Evangelism, Assimilation & Discipleship, are to officiate.
Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent atrium of the Worship Center.
The interment service is to be conducted at half-past four o’clock in the afternoon, also on Saturday, at the County Line Cemetery, located on Farm-to-Market Road 1971 North in Timpson, Texas.
