Peggy met her husband, Wayne, in 1968 and they fell in love quickly. After two and a half months of dating they married. They were married for 54 years and enjoyed traveling together every chance they got.
Peggy realized her need for a Savior from her sins as a young adult. After she was saved, she joined First Baptist Church Pasadena and jumped into serving God with both feet. She and Wayne taught high school Sunday school for many years, and she looked forward to helping with VBS in the summers. She served as the Girls in Action (GA) director for a time and enjoyed being involved with the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) at her church. But what she enjoyed most was church visitation and her Bible studies with her friends. She was not afraid to share her Lord, and she wanted others to know him too.
Peggy had two daughters, Melissa and Jennifer, and they were a joy to her heart. She was present for most of their activities and pushed them to be their best. She always wanted to spend the holidays with her girls and was proud of the women they had become.
When her daughters were older, Peggy went back to college and earned her teaching degree from the University of Houston - Clear Lake. She taught at Red Bluff Elementary School for 13 years from where she retired. She never thought a child could have too much teaching so she would tutor her grandchildren every chance she got - rather they needed it or not.
Friendship was important to Peggy, and she had many from different periods of her life. She kept in touch with some of her childhood friends and would travel as far as Alaska to see them. She seldom missed a luncheon with her retired teacher friends and would gather with others to do a Bible study.
Peggy loved her grandchildren and spent many late nights sitting around the kitchen table eating popcorn and talking about life with them. She seldom missed their events, and she had a burden that all of them would come to know Christ as their savior.
Though we miss our wife, mom, mawmaw, sister, and friend tremendously, we are forever grateful Peggy is in heaven. She will never feel pain and sickness again. We believe the moment she opened her eyes in the presence of her Lord she RAN to Him and is now worshiping Him face to face!
