Peter was born on March 29, 1966, and passed away at the age of 59. He was born in Vietnam and made his home in Manvel, Texas.
Peter was a man of integrity and few words, who walked with a quiet strength and a smile that lit up his whole face. In 1992, he met the love of his life, Eleanor, and from that moment on, they were each other's one and only. They married in 1995 and shared 33 beautiful years together, building a life filled with love, faith, laughter, and perseverance. Their love was defined by both playfulness and devotion, from holding hands on simple outings throughout Houston to making treasured memories during their travels. Eleanor always felt safe, protected, and truly cherished in Peter’s presence.
Peter loved being a father to Sara‑Grace and Justin. He was endlessly proud of them and all they accomplished. He stayed deeply involved in their lives and always found meaningful ways to support and celebrate them.
Peter is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his children, Sara‑Grace (Henry Unser) and Justin (Cindy Luu); his mother, Minh Hua; his sisters, Crystal Tran and Elaine Chan Studney (Simon Studney); and his brothers, Cuong Tran (Rosie Ly) and Anthony Tran. He is also loved by many extended family members and friends who will miss him profoundly. His grand‑dogs, Teddy and Twix Chan, will miss their endless couch cuddles, naps, and his home-cooked dog meals.
Throughout his 59 years, Peter touched countless lives with his steadfast presence, wisdom, dry humor, and unwavering perseverance. He will be remembered for his favorite sayings, always delivered with an expressive look -such as: “Oh well, you dim sum, and you lose sum;” “Can you do something about it? No? Then let it go;” and “Hey, hey, hey, what's all this fuss about?” His remarkable life remains a testament to the power of an indomitable spirit, strengthened by resilience and grace.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. We send Peter on his new journey with much love, gratitude, and appreciation.
In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated, and the family will spread some of his ashes in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, along his favorite scenic river bike trail, as well as in the many countries he and Eleanor had hoped to visit together.
