

Pilar Gutierrez-Middleton, 33, of The Woodlands, Texas passed away on Monday December 12, 2011. She was born on Thursday January 30, 1978 in Houston, Texas. Pilar attended Holy Spirit Episcopal Grade School, Memorial Middle School, and Memorial High School and graduated from Baylor University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biochemistry also participating in the Kappa Delta Sorority. Pilar is survived by her loving husband, Sean Middleton; daughter, Paris Celeste Allison, and her son, Damien Charles Middleton; father, Bob Gutierrez, and mother, Edna Gutierrez; mother-in-law, Jeanne Middleton, father-in-law, John G. Middleton, grandmothers Maria Gutierrez and Ofelia Bilderback, and grandfather Fermin Cantu Jr., uncle Oscar and his wife Vickie Gutierrez from League City, Aunts Mary Maes from Santa Fe and Gloria Badillo from San Martin, California, uncle Fermin Cantu III and his wife Mary from Katy, Texas. She is also survived by great aunts Frances McHazlett, Alice Ritchie and Ernestine Garza, great uncle Roger White, PhD, along with many cousins in California, New Mexico and Texas.
Pilar’s early years were spent in Brisbane, Australia where she grew into a very healthy baby and where her Dad was on assignment from KBR as Project Controls Manager on the Oaky Creek Coal Project in Central Queensland. Through high school and in married life she made numerous trips to Europe and South America, developing a fondness for international travel especially to Europe. Her favorite city was Paris.
Pilar’s married life revolved around Paris and Damien. Her desires for a quality education were demonstrated by enrolling Paris and Damien at John Cooper School and Padding British School, respectively.
Pilar was active in her children’s early education. She participated when she could as homeroom mom for both children at Paddington. In addition to caring for the children’s education, Pilar was active in many charitable organizations. She volunteered at Bering Omega, a foundation that helps people afflicted with AIDS. She also volunteered time and energy to the Beyond Batten Disease. Pilar was also a member of Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00pm Sunday December 18, 2011 in the Memorial Oaks Funeral home Chapel 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Monday December 19, 2011 in the St. Cecilia Catholic Church 11720 Joan of Arc Drive Houston, Texas 77024. Interment will follow at 1:00pm in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
