Ramiro Gonzalez, age 68, of Houston, TX, passed away on 12-17-2024. Known for his boundless generosity, unwavering support for his children, and a knack for finding joy in the simple things, Ramiro lived a life that left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
He was born on 2-10-1956 in Monterrey, Mexico, to Jose Ramiro Gonzalez and Olivia Rodriguez Gonzalez.
A man of great character and kindness, Ramiro believed in living with sincerity. He was known to be a frugal man who could stretch a dollar farther than anyone imagined, firmly believing in practicality over pretension. Yet, despite his resourcefulness, there wasn’t a trace of greed in him. He gave freely—his time, wisdom, handmade crafts, or simply a helping hand. Whether it was fixing a car, crafting something special for a loved one, or offering thoughtful advice, Ramiro found joy in giving and took pride in putting others before himself.
He was a man with a constant sense of humor, likely inspired by his love of favorite cartoons like Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, The Flintstones, Shrek, and many more. Like Shrek, beneath a gruff, straightforward demeanor and independence from others, there was a big heart that beat with love, compassion, and care for his family. He stood firmly by his principles, always valuing what was right, and was a steady, supportive presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren.
Whether he was spending time with his best friend Jorge, his siblings, kids, grandkids, or the rest of his family, Ramiro was always making them laugh or lending his skills whenever they were in need. When he wasn’t on the road as a truck driver, his craftsman spirit randeep—working as a mechanic, woodworker, or tinkering with gadgets. He was known to be the one called upon for help—whether it was a home repair, car trouble, or building something new.
Beyond his work and family, Ramiro enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding, and mainly, just having fun. Whether it was impromptu front porch paintball gun battles with a neighbor, target practice with pellet guns, ensuring the local squirrels were well-fed with feeders he built himself, or taking care of his adopted cats, he embraced life with a playful and caring nature.
Though life threw many challenges his way—car crashes, motorcycle accidents, and even a major stroke—Ramiro’s resilience was unmatched. He defied the odds time and again, pushing through with strength and determination that was truly inspiring.
Above all, he was a steadfast source of support for his children, always there to guide them and encourage them with his words, his actions, and his love. He found joy in being present for his family, creating memories, and sharing what he could.
Ramiro’s love, laughter, and selflessness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Ramiro is survived by his children, Adam Jones, Melissa Marks, Leticia Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, Louis Gonzalez, and Elida Marquez, their spouses, and his grandchildren.
Ramiro will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His life was one of quiet strength, unwavering love, and countless moments of joy. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit and the lessons he imparted will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends.
Rest in peace, Ramiro—Dad, Grandpa Buck. You will always be remembered.
