Sending my condolences to the Wieting family. I was born on September 19, 1986 as well. My brother was born on September 19th, 1983, so we are exactly 3 years apart.

What a pleasant young Nephew to have had the honor of knowing. I remember when I first met Randy as a young child, he was so smart and a breath of fresh air. Randy renewed my faith in the Blessings that children can bring. He would visit Aunt Terry and me and entertain us with his laughter and his abundance of curiosity kept us on our toes. A handsome young adult full of love and excitement who will missed and forever in my heart and on my mind. Love, Uncle Rex

I  did not know Randy as a young man, but as a boy he was shy, polite and just as handsome as he became In adulthood. All who were fortunate enough to have known him will always remember that wonderful, engaging smile.

One would never have guessed that 1700 miles separated Scott and Amy from Randy and the whole Texas family. It's clear when hearing stories the bond of love runs deep. Heart-filled condolences to the entire Wieting extended family.

During the difficult time of grieving, I find it helpful to share thoughts and memories. I'd like to share a memorable moment that I had with Randy.

One of the few times that I had met Randy and Russ was when they came up to Connecticut from Texas to attend Amy's wedding. The wedding day was a lovely day in July at the lake celebrating, having fun, and eating. I had the pleasure of sitting at the table eating with Russ, Randy, and others. We were almost done eating, some of us were still picking away at the last few nibbles on our plates when we all seemed to notice at the same time, Randy (probably 10 or 11 years old at the time) was taking great care to eat every last bit of bone marrow that he could extract, slowly and carefully using one tine of his fork, sliding it down the center of a chicken bone and back out, carefully balancing that tiny precious bit of marrow. Over and over he did this until he was satisfied that the bone had been properly cleaned and emptied. Some of his observers were shocked, some may have even been disgusted, but I was left amused and impressed that this young boy, whom I had heard so much about from his brother Scott, found a clever way to achieve something that he wanted. Sometimes it's the little things in life that bring the most pleasure, and I was a little jealous that I hadn't thought of it myself, as I also enjoy those delicious little tid-bits.

We should all cherish our fondest memories of Randy. He will be missed.

I only met Randy a couple times, but he left an impression. Beyond just the fact that he was a handsome redhead (we redheads stick together). He was a good kid. And Scott is always so proud of his brothers from Texas. He lights up every time he talks about Randy and Russ. Sending love from me and Lindsay to all of Randys friends and family. 

Only met Randy once or twice, but Scott and Amy have always been so proud of their brothers. Randy and Russ have always lived up to the hype. Proud to have known Randy no matter how briefly. Our hearts go out to his family and friends. 

God rest his soul. My heart goes out to his family.
