

After living a very full and deeply meaningful life Ray Kunc went home to be with his Lord and to reunite with his bride, Myrna Jean on February 18, 2016…Myrna’s birthday and their 69th wedding anniversary!
World War 2 began when Ray was a sophomore in high school. He attempted to convince his mother to allow him to enlist at the age of 14 by changing the date on his birth certificate…she refused and required him to finish his high school education first. By the time he was 15 years old, Raymond Kunc had graduated and was off to the Naval Training Station in San Diego, CA.
After boot camp, he shipped out to the Philippine Islands aboard the USS Randall. After a honorable discharge in August 1946, he enrolled in Oklahoma City University and eventually transferring to the University of Oklahoma in Norman to study Architecture. Ray wound up changing his major to Geology which fascinated him and became his career path until retiring in June of 1988 in Houston, TX.
Married in 1947, the Kunc’s raised there children, Raymond Michael (Mike), Rolland Clayton (Rollie), and Jeane Anette. Ray was a deacon at Sugar Creek Baptist Church, where he served on several committees and in most recent years volunteering two days a week for the Administration Department where he formed some very deep friendships.
He is predeceased by his bride of 69 years, Myrna Jean Kunc.
Surviving family members are his son’s, Raymond Michael Kunc and Rolland Clayton Kunc and his wife, Jeri Kunc, his daughter, Jeane Annette Kunc-Putz and her husband, Mitchell Putz.
Grand children: Sara Joy Frierdich and her husband Ryan Frierdich, Christen Haley Madigan & her husband Christopher Madigan and grandson, William James Sakwitz.
Great Grand Children: Emma Joy Frierdich, Sophia Kay Frierdich and Abigail Violet Frierdich.
