

Richard M. Caudillo, Sr. passed away on February 27, 2016 surrounded by his family. Richard was born to Genoveva and Manuel Caudillo, Sr. on January 19, 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Manuel and Raul. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Tina; his sons Richard and Rene; his daughter Rachel Sauceda and son-n-law Serafin, their daughters Crystal Rene and Jessica; and Sammy, Mr. Phillips, and Rocky. He is also survived by his brother Roy and his wife Pita; his sisters Lucy Bosquez and Odelia Martinez; his brother Arthur Caudillo, Sr.; and sister Tita Anderson.
Richard graduated from San Jacinto High School. He attended the University of Houston for two years. He was drafted into the U.S. Army shortly after marriage where he proudly served his country for 6 years, both in regular and reserve units. When he got out of the Army he joined the U.S. Post Office where he served with distinction for 39 years and 8 months, receiving in 1998 the Special Achievement Award.
Richard was an avid fan of youth sports. He coached both of his sons and/or served on the board of little league baseball and football with Freeway Manor and Southbelt Little Leagues and Southeast Houston Wildcats. He continued supporting youth sports even after his children graduated by attending as many little league, Dobie, and PMHS games as he could. He enjoyed going car riding with Tina and Rene exploring different neighborhoods in the Houston/Galveston area especially during Christmas time. One of his favorite pastimes was visiting with family both in Houston and Beaumont. Richard was a lovable character. Everyone who met him took an immediate liking to him. Richard was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 20 years and the Moose Lodge for 5 years.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at Crespo Funeral Home, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003, on March 2 from 5 to 9 pm with a Rosary starting at 7 pm. The last viewing will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 7539 Avenue K, Houston, TX 77012, on March 3 at 9 am. A funeral mass will follow at 10 am. The internment will follow immediately at Forest Park East Cemetery on 21620 Gulf Freeway. Webster, TX 77598.
