

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard William Wilson (aka Ricky, Pops, The Earl, Grumpy Starter Guy, and countless other nicknames) on May 31st, 2025 in Spring, TX. Rick was born in Dearborn, MI on August 31st, 1955. Rick graduated from Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, MI, and attended classes and played hockey at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn.
In his late 20’s, Rick migrated to Houston, TX for the big oil boom, never looked back. He worked 35+ years in the metallurgy field and was the Grumpy Starter for 25 years at Gleannloch Pines Golf Club. He enjoyed playing hockey in his youth, playing golf, fishing, and cooking/grilling. He was very dedicated to his sobriety and recently celebrated receiving his 5-year chip. He also remained very involved in The PaRC rehab facility, and various AA groups, known as “Pops” to most, helping and mentoring countless others with finding their next, healthier chapter in their lives. He was an energetic, loving Husband, Son, Brother, Stepfather, Uncle, and Brother in-law to all in his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years Rhonda Wilson, Sister Robin Halleck and her husband Doug, Brother Dennis Wilson and his wife Julie, Nieces Laura Kenyon and her husband Jeff, Emily Wilson, Lindsay Wilson, and Sarah Wilson, Nephew Dustin Halleck and his wife Hannah. Great Nieces Audrey, Anna, Grace, and Ava. Great Nephew Davis. Stepson James Harrison and wife Crystal, and Granddaughter Addison. Stepsons Bruce and Evan Moncur. Sister in-law Brenda (Flo) Latham and husband Tommy Dunn. Brother in-laws Ron Gilbert and his wife Nela, Ronald Gilbert, Cody Gilbert and his wife Valerie. He was preceded in death by his Father Robert Wilson, Mother Barbara Wilson, and pets Suzie Wong, Suzie II, and Suzie III.
Rest in peace Rick, you will be sorely missed by so many on this earth, but God has gained another Angel. A Celebration of Life will be held at Brookside Funeral Services, 3410 Cypress Parkway, Houston, TX on Saturday June 14th 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, with a reception following from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
