Robert Lee Bakke

Bakke, Robert Lee 56, passed away October 4, with his family at his side. He was born on August 5, 1958, the son of Mary Lee Cottingham Benedict and the late Oliver M. Bakke, Jr. A third generation Houstonian, Bob attended Briargrove elementary, T.H.Rogers junior high and Robert E. Lee senior high school.

He graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in 1985. Bob loved music, museums, the beach and being with his family. He is pre-deceased by his father and survived by his mother, Mary Lee, and his siblings; Oliver M. Bakke, III, and wife Julie, Carol Gallagher and husband Charlie, Gail Staples, and Cathryn Bakke. He is also survived by six nephews; Ray Gallagher and wife Emily, Clayton Gallagher and wife Nicole, Travis Gallagher, Addison Staples, James and Andrew Bakke; two nieces; Moira Gallagher and MacKenzie Staples; and five great nephews.

The family would like to thank the team of doctors and nurses in Ben Taub Neurology ICU for the wonderful care extended to Robert in his final weeks. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 pm, October 11, at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home located at 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX. In lieu of customary remembrances the family suggests memorial contributions in Robert's name be made to The Magnificat House, P.O.box 8486 Houston, TX 77288.
