Robert K. Blair, Jr., M.D. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, the 2nd of November 2024, surrounded by his devoted family. He was a native Houstonian, born on the 30th of September 1945. He was 79 years of age.
Robert attended Lamar High School where he met his soulmate Terri in sophomore chemistry class. They married after Robert's graduation from the University of Texas and moved to Galveston for his medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Five years of orthopedic residency were completed in San Antonio, followed by serving two years as a board certified Air Force orthopedic surgeon. Next came six years of private practice before joining Kelsey Seybold Clinic in 1986, eventually specializing in foot and ankle surgery. Robert often expressed how much satisfaction he received from his doctor-patient relationships, spending time with patients and being able to educate them about their treatment and recovery.
Retired since 2011, Robert made the most of life, engaged in hunting, fishing at Port O'Connor, cowboy shooting competitions with the Single Action Shooting Society, learning to play bridge, attending Bible study, and traveling with family and friends. Joined by his beloved pets, Robert spent many quiet hours watching old movies or reading favorite books and listening to a surprising range of music genres. In recent years he especially enjoyed making new friends at The Hallmark retirement community.
Robert is survived by his wife Terri Moore Blair; his son, Robert K. Blair Ill and wife Penny Blair; his daughter, Shannon Blair Daywood and her husband Michael Daywood; his three grandchildren, Robbin Blair, Andrew Blair, and Owen Nesbit; his sister, Lydia Blair Pettis; and his Blair cousins, Julian, Sally, Duncan, Heather, and Ian. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Madeline Blair and sister Judith Blair Webber. Robert will be lovingly missed by everyone in his family and by all who felt his unique sense of humor and down to earth kindness.
A celebration of life is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning, on Saturday, the 16th of November, in the sanctuary of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay Street in Houston, where Josef Klam, Executive Pastor, is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Garden Room.
