He was born in Rochester, Pennsylvania on 22 February 1943 to John Howard Funkhouser, Jr. and Evelyn Mae Funkhouser (Shanor). He was married to Elizabeth Jane Funkhouser (Wilson) for more than 30 years.
Bob served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967 as a quartermaster’s mate aboard the USS Hartley (DE-1029) and the USS Samuel B. Roberts (DD-823). After leaving the Navy, he made a career in the automobile industry that spanned five decades with Courtesy Chevrolet, Tom Peacock Chevrolet and Mac Haik Chevrolet in Houston. Bob had a passion for sailing, gardening and the outdoors. He also loved to tinker with just about anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Richard and Ronald Funkhouser and his sisters Donna Dostort and Judith Koecher.
He is survived by his stepmother Evelyn, wife Jane, sons Robert, Jr. and David, stepsons Trey, Mark and Scott and 10 grandchildren.
