Rob was born on April 7th, 1956 in Houston, Texas to Ernest Allan Grimm and Carolyn Dowden Grimm, the second of three children. He was married to Sandra Hernandez Grimm for 34 years, with whom he raised a loving family.
With his strong work ethic, Rob had a long career in the automotive repair industry and worked for Miller’s Auto Body Shop & Repair and Centerpoint Energy. He was a Life Member of the Houston - North Loop Optimist Club, through which he developed many friendships and was recognized for his dedication and service to the organization and the community. Rob was a devout believer in the Lord and valued his relationship with Christ and the importance of his family more than anything.
He had many passions and hobbies that he shared and passed on to friends and family alike, including fishing and hunting, playing music, woodworking and craftsmanship, cooking and barbequing, watching baseball, reading books, and, above all, spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids, and friends. He will be remembered as the life of the party, fun, quick-witted, and for the way he made everyone around him laugh. He lived a life full of travel, laughter, and happiness, many of his stories being a perfect example of the adventure he grabbed hold of.
His favorite adventure, however, involved him meeting the gal of his dreams and planting roots in Spring, Texas, surrounded by friends and family. He was a loving husband, father, Pa-Pa, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He coached little league, cheered on his kids, nieces, and nephews, built overly-extravagant Christmas light displays, and believed that we could do anything we set our minds to. With his huge heart, he was quick to take care of those around him, give a helping hand, a big hug, and offer his comforting, sideways grin. Rob was loved by everyone who met him, a father-figure to many, and considered a brother by many of his lifelong friends. He left a lasting impact on each of us that we will hold onto forever.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his devoted eternal wife, Sandra Grimm; daughter Julie Ann Vasquez, her husband Uriel, and their daughter Sofia; daughter Sara Ashley Grimm and fiance Enea Mariani; son Christian Tyler Grimm, his wife Samantha, and their children Noah, Scarlett, and Violet. Rob is also survived by his mother Carolyn Dowden Grimm Jamail; brother Richard Grimm; and countless brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was one of the greats, full of life and love, and, though he will be missed deeply, we are blessed to have known a man like him and for all the precious moments and memories that we shared. We trust that he is watching over us and we look forward to the day we get to see him again.
Thank you for all you taught us and all the love you gave - we love you.
