Robert was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on September 4, 1940, to Virginia Claire Scoggins. As a small child he and his mother moved to Houston, Texas to live with his maternal grandparents Blanche and John "Pres" Scoggins.
Bob graduated from Bellaire High School in 1960 and subsequently joined the Air Force. In 1963 Bob's father passed away and he returned to Houston to help raise his 5 younger siblings. In 1969 Bob married the love of his life, Linda Faye Tomlinson. Linda and Bob went on to have 2 beautiful children, Jason and Heather. Bob owned and operated a very successful machinery business, Hesco Equipment Sales for over 50 years. He retired from the machinery business in 2017, however retiring wasn't in his future. He turned his lifelong hobby of collecting cars into buying and selling classic cars.
Bob was a family man who loved his family dearly. He was funny, charming and a natural salesman. He was an honest and hardworking man who was always ready to wheel and deal. Bob enjoyed living in the country, riding his tractor, collecting antiques and playing with his 5 dogs. No matter the season you would always find him in his uniform, jean shorts and a t-shirt. Bob was also a proud member of the Freemason organization.
Bob is survived by his son Jason, his daughter Heather McHugh (Paul), 3 grandchildren, Alyssa, Alexis and Jaxson McHugh, his siblings, Valerie Nowell, Michelle Oakes, Jolie Tinsman and Michael Hess (Melanie), numerous nieces and nephews and his longtime companion Patricia Erwin. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hess, mother and father Jack and Virgina Hess, sister Renee Hess and grandparents Blanche and John Scoggins.
