

Robert Eugene Kizer, 84, of Houston, TX, passed away November 25, 2019. He was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on December 6, 1934 to Robert Dixon Kizer and Ruby Louise Skeels. When he was 6 they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. Bob graduated from W. B. Ray High School Class of 1953 in Corpus Christi, where he played football, baseball and was in the acapella choir. Attended Del Mar Jr. College in Corpus Christi, and received TCLEOSE Certification from University of Houston.
Bob was married to Patricia Rice in February, 1959 in Corpus Christi, TX. They were married for over 60 years.
Bob had two tours of duty with the US Army, first at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX where he played football and was on the swim team and was head life guard over the pools and a second tour at Ft. Polk, LA during the Berlin Crisis. Bob worked a variety of jobs. Bob worked for Humble Oil in the paleo lab before transferring to a seismograph crew working all over south Texas, Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico. San Jacinto Processing at the refinery in Egan, Louisiana before coming to Houston in 1969 to work for one of his high school friends building gooseneck trailers. Bob managed a truck repair shop as well as had his own mechanic shop for a while. Bob went to work for Harris County – Precinct 1 Constables Office working in mental warrants, directing traffic at the Astrodome for over 10 years and was a bailiff for Justice of the Peace, David Patronella when he retired from law enforcement at the age of 62. He then went to work at Houston Farm and Ranch Club for more 10 years.
Bob was a Boy Scout, Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, member of Hold ‘em and Hit ‘em Club and Houston Farm and Ranch Club. Bob had a passion for drag racing, golf, camping, swimming, travel, competitive barbeque and woodworking. He also learned to fly small aircraft.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, children, Deborah Hymer (Keith), Thomas Kizer, Michael Kizer (Adrieanne), Diana Dunnam (Roger) and Donna Cezar (Ronald).
8 Grand children - Candace Kizer, Dannielle Gonzales, Michael Kizer II, Preston Kizer, Tanya Lane, Nicole Lacy, Justin Holden, Jessica Millard.15 Great grandchildren Meredith Paige Baranosky, Haili Knape, Ruby Gonzales, Abigail Gonzales, Hunter May, Makenzie May, Mavis Holden, Madeline Milliard, Addison Millard, Dylan Kizer, Miranda Salinas, Jasmine Lacy, Brandi Lacy, Travis Lacy, Haylie Lacy.
Bob is also survived by a host of friends.
A visitation will be held in Robert’s honor on Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. inside the chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. A Celebration of Life service will commence at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019, after which he will be escorted to the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038, where he will be laid to rest and a grateful Nation will bestow him with honors. Please join the family from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. for a reception at American Heritage Funeral Home.
