

He was born to parents, Russell Clinton Michels and Louise Mueller Michels on 4/6/37 at Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas. Buddy was a resident of Houston his entire life. He graduated from Reagan High School and The University of Texas. Buddy married his sweetheart, Sandra Leeth Michels, on 2/16/63 and they were blessed with 53 years of happiness together. To this union, two wonderful children were born.
Buddy worked for 40 years in the shipping, transportation, and sales industry rising to V. President at Transoceanic Shipping Co. and later as Sales Executive at Administaff. He enjoyed being with family, hunting, fishing, all sports, especially Houston Astros, golf, traveling, and working in the church. Buddy was a dedicated, strong family man and loved his God and family above everything else. He was a loving and devoted husband, dad, brother, and Pawpaw to his four very special grandchildren, of whom he was very proud. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Buddy is survived by loving wife, Sandra Michels; son, Mark Michels and wife, Kim; son, Greg Michels and his wife, Carolyn; sister, Mildred George; sister, Velma Harrington and husband, George; special grandchildren, Kaylee Michels, Jason Michels, Bailey Renn, Jacob Michels and his mother, Mary Michels; niece, Louisa Pack, husband Tony and their daughters, Carly & Macy; niece, Susan Harrington and children Steven, Cameron and Andrew; nephew, Rusty George, his wife Deborah and their daughter, Katelynn; nephew, David Harrington and his wife Melissa , and James and George; niece, Terry Florence and her husband Elvis; niece, Margaret Angel and her children, Jason and Jacob; and a host of loving friends and colleagues.
Buddy was a faithful, christian servant of the Lord. He made a profession of faith at an early age. An active member of Baptist Temple in the Heights, he served as S.S. teacher in Children & Youth Departments in his earlier years. Most recently, he served as Deacon & Asst. Treasurer of the church as well as serving on various committees throughout the years. Buddy also loved his country and served in the Air Force Reserves for 6 years.
Viewing will be at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home on 34th Street on Sunday 7/24/16 at 5-7 pm. Services will be held at Baptist Temple Church on 7/25/16 at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery at 1101 Antoine Dr, Houston, TX. Pallbearers for the service are Mark Michels, Jason Michels, Greg Michels, Jacob Michels, George Harrington, David Harrington, Rusty George and Johnny Crain. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Baptist Temple Church.
