He was preceded in death in 2006 by his beloved wife of 37 years, Ellen Viola Phipps.
He is survived by his children Robert Dewayne Phipps, Lisa Phipps, Tammy Smith & her husband, Kenneth Smith; Grandchildren, Matthew Phipps, Dominique Wiley, Darian Candler and Calvin Young; Great-grandchildren, Emily Phipps, Erykah Young and Ellen Phipps.
Robert was self-employed as a landscaper until he retired at age 67. He loved bringing beauty to others in his profession. Above all, he loved his family; he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
A visitation for Robert will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039, followed by a funeral service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
